Orientation Program
Your learning at ACK will commence with a program of orientation that is designed to help you fit into the College quickly and easily. It is essential that you attend your scheduled orientation session as it will provide all the information that you need to be able to start learning immediately. At the time of accepting your letter of offer, you will be advised of the day and time of your orientation session.
At your orientation session you will be given important information about ACK, its facilities, support services and ACK’s rules and regulations. You will also be provided with information about the special nature of the ACK curriculum and how this will help you to gain the right knowledge, skills and attitudes for success in future employment.
ACK understands that your parents are very interested in your education and also wish to understand ACK and its training services. Your parents are welcome to come to orientation so that they may also learn about ACK.
On your first day of classes, you will meet your instructors and learn the details of your training program, schedule and methods of assessment.
Learning
As a student at ACK, you are entitled to information about the Course you are studying, the knowledge, skills and attitudes that you will be expected to gain during your study, how your learning will be assessed, what qualifications you will be awarded, and what learning options are available to you at ACK.
The ACK Timetable
At the time of initial enrolment and subsequent re-enrolments, students generally have a choice of morning or afternoon sessions. Classes fill quickly so it is wise to register on the announced dates. Students enrolled in certain streams may have a restricted choice due to student numbers.
You will be given your timetable of timing as well as information about session times during Student Orientation.
Learning sessions are held throughout the day. A typical student day at the College lasts for five hours and comprises two 2-hour learning sessions with a one hour break between each session.
To succeed at ACK it is very important that, as a student, you attend all your learning sessions on time, every time. You should strive to develop good time management for your future career.
Course Details
You will be given a lot of information about the details of your course by your instructors before teaching starts and during the course.
This information will include:
