ACK Academic Scholarships and Bursaries

ACK offers a limited number of Academic Scholarships and Bursaries each semester.

Academic Scholarships are for DIPLOMA and DEGREE level students only and cover the full tuition fees for one semester. The criteria used by the Scholarship Committee as well as the Application Form are available from the Registration Unit counter located on the Ground Floor of Building 1. Bursaries to the value of KD1,000 towards tuition fees also are available for any registered student. The criteria used by the Bursary Committee as well as the Application Form are available from the Registration Unit counter located on the Ground Floor of Building 1. Private Universities Council (PUC) – Scholarships and Regulations

ACK accepts students who wish to enroll into a Diploma or a Degree program under the sponsorship of the Private Universities Council (PUC). See link. The Private Universities Council is the only authority that can approve a scholarship application (this does not include ACK Academic Scholarships and Bursaries). The PUC announces the scholarship applications outcome in the local newspapers. For the dates of accepting applications, please refer to "Entry Dates" section.

There are five types for the PUC Internal Scholarship:

PUC Scholarship for High School Graduates - Diploma Scholarship

Rules and Conditions

  • Student must be Kuwaiti or son/daughter of a Kuwaiti mother
  • Must have Graduated from High School in the current or previous Academic Year
  • Must not be employed in any Government sector
  • Must not be holding any other scholarship from any other institution
  • Must not have received any previous scholarship and was annulled due to withdrawal or any revocation
  • The Scholarship covers only two levels for the English Foundation Program
  • The scholarship is only for the Diploma Program
  • Applicants for Engineering or Aviation Diploma must hold a Science High School or if graduated from the British High School system must have a pass grade in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • A non-refundable KD10 application fee is payable on submission of application

Application Process and Procedure

Applications are accepted at ACK Campus within the period as advised by the PUC. ACK announces the period for accepting PUC applications in the local newspapers. Applicants must complete the ACK application form first, test their English level for the PUC Scholarship and then apply for the scholarship.

  • Complete PUC Application form
  • Attach copy of valid civil ID
  • For Non Kuwaitis, copies of birth certificate and mother’s valid civil ID must be attached
  • Submit Original High School certificate or its equivalency
PUC Scholarship for High School Graduates - Special Needs Scholarship

Rules and Conditions

PUC Scholarship for High School Graduates - Diplomats Children Scholarship

Rules and Conditions

  • Student must be Kuwaiti or son/daughter of a Kuwaiti mother
  • Must have Graduated from High School in the current or previous Academic Year
  • Must not be employed in any Government sector
  • Must not be holding any other scholarship from any other institution
  • Must not have received any previous scholarship and was annulled due to withdrawal or any revocation
  • The Scholarship covers only two levels for the English Foundation Program
  • The scholarship is only for the Diploma Program
  • Applicants for Engineering or Aviation Diploma must hold a Science High School or if graduated from the British High School system must have a pass grade in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

PUC Scholarship for Diploma Graduates - Degree Scholarship

Rules and Conditions

  • Student must be Kuwaiti or son/daughter of a Kuwaiti mother
  • Graduated from the Diploma in the current or previous 2 Academic Years with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
  • Must not be employed in any Government sector
  • Must not be holding any other scholarship from any other institution
  • Must not have received any previous scholarship and was annulled due to withdrawal or any revocation
  • The scholarship is only for the Degree Program
  • A non-refundable KD10 application fee is payable on submission of application

Application Process and Procedure

Applications are accepted at ACK Campus within the period as advised by the PUC. ACK announces the dates of accepting PUC applications in the local newspapers. Applicants must complete the ACK Degree application form first, and then apply for the scholarship.

  • Complete PUC Application form
  • Attach copy of valid civil ID
  • For Non Kuwaitis, copies of birth certificate and mother’s valid civil ID must be attached
  • Submit original Diploma and Transcript
PUC Scholarship for Academic Achievers (Diploma and Degree programs)

Rules and Conditions

  • Student must be Kuwaiti or son/daughter of a Kuwaiti mother
  • Must not be employed in any Government sector
  • Must not be holding any other scholarship from any other institution
  • Must not have received any previous scholarship and was cancelled due to withdrawal or any cancellation
  • A non-refundable KD10 application fee is payable on submission of application
  • For Diploma Students:
    • The scholarship is only for the Diploma Program
    • Completed minimum  one Semester (Full load for the specific major) of the Diploma program
    • Have achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher
  • For Degree Students:
    • Passed all Semester 1 units (Full load for the specific major) with a minimum GPA not less than 3.00
    • Passed all Semester 1 and Semester 2 units (Full load for the specific major) with a minimum GPA not less than 2.50

Application Process and Procedure

  • Complete PUC Academic Achievers Application form
  • Attach copy of valid civil ID
  • For Non Kuwaitis, copies of birth certificate and mother’s valid civil ID must be attached
  • For Diploma applicants, submit a copy of High School certificate
  • For the Degree applicants, submit a copy of the Diploma
  • Attach a recent official Statement of Results issued from and stamped by the Student Administration

General PUC Scholarship Regulations

  • PUC students must register a full load according to his/her major.
  • PUC will cover the tuition fees for the repeated units according to the Grading Policy followed by the Australian College of Kuwait and after the approval of the Academic Advisor.
  • PUC students must register in the major in which he/she was accepted in and cannot change major until approved by the PUC Scholarship Committee. If approved, student will be responsible for the payment of the tuition fees of the non-transferable units resulted by the change of major.
  • If a PUC student wishes to defer the current semester for either:
    • Pregnancy and childbirth during the semester, OR (b) to sit for the IELTS or TOEFL exam; then the student must submit a deferral request during the specific period (before the beginning of the related semester until Census Date), and must not register for the current semester. If the student registered for the current semester then he/she applied for a deferral, then the student will be responsible for the payment of the tuition fees. The deferral will be for one semester only and student should register for the upcoming semester or submit a new deferral request in case he/she wishes to extend the period of the deferral.
  • There are no financial consequences resulting from officially withdrawing or deferring during the first two weeks of the semester.
  • The student must oblige with all rules and regulation of the private universities council
  • The scholarship covers the tuitions fees and does not include the late registration fees and the units that student withdraw after the allowed period of time to withdraw the unit.
  • The scholarship will be canceled for the students who get academic dismissal from the college

Sheikh Jaber’s Heirs’ Fund Scholarships

Through an endowment in honor of Sheikh Jaber Al Sabah, a number of Kuwaiti students are assisted with their fees to study at ACK.

Each Fall and Spring semester Diploma and Degree students who meet the below conditions are welcome to submit an application:

Rules and Conditions

The student is considered eligible to apply if he/she meet the following rules:

  • Kuwaiti nationality;
  • Have a minimum Cumulative GPA of 2.00 and not failed in any units in previous semester;
  • Must not be holding any other scholarship from any other institution.
  • Only Diploma and Degree students can apply (English Language program students are not eligible).

Submission of Applications

  • Applications are only accepted during the Sheikh Jaber’s Heirs’ Fund Scholarships Applications period published on the ACK website.  Late applications are not accepted.
  • Special financial situation must be declared:  information and certificates must be submitted such as salary certificates; rent contracts; bank statements and other expenses.
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all required documentation in the advertised timelines. Incomplete applications are not accepted.
  • Application forms are available from the ACK Scholarships Office through the Registration Unit Counter, Building 1.
