ACK Students Win 3rd Place at 2021 SPE ADIPEC Virtual University Program Competition

Three students from ACK won third place in the Society for Petroleum Engineers (SPE) 2021 Abu Dhabi International Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) Virtual University Program Competition.

The Virtual University Program ran on 14 and 15 November 2021, running alongside the 2021 Abu Dhabi International Exhibition and Conference, which was held from the 15 to 18 November 2021. The SPE ADIPEC Virtual University Program was conducted for undergraduate geoscience and engineering students across the Middle East and North Africa region in order to give them insight into the petroleum industry and provide them with an opportunity to grow their skills and expertise in the field. The Virtual University Program gave attendees the opportunity to participate in various virtual speaker sessions, virtual tours and networking, along with a competition where teams from various universities were required to create a written proposal and video presentations.

At the end of the competition, the judges selected the ACK team for the third place. ACK team consisted of three petroleum-engineering students: Taiyeba Alamgir Alamgir, Abrar Ali Abbas Ben Husain, and Noor Marwan Al-Haddad. Throughout the competition, students were under the supervision of Dr. Mortadha Al Saba, Assistant Professor and Head of Petroleum Engineering at ACK.

Commenting on the success of the students, Dr. Al Saba said: “Competing against 30 Universities in the Middle East and North Africa Region and wining third place shows the quality of our future engineers along with their dedication and hard work. We are very proud of our students at ACK.”
