Alumni Career Placement Procedure

PURPOSE

This procedure outlines the processes which the Alumni and Career placement Center completes in collaboration with Industry Employers in Kuwait and globally in order to enhance employment opportunities for ACK graduates.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the ACK collaboration with industry employers in Kuwait and globally for ACK alumni and future graduates.

CONTROL OF PROCEDURE

  • It is the responsibility of the Manager- Alumni & Career Placement Center and the Senior Officer- Alumni & Career Placement Center to maintain details of Current Employers and Alumni graduates. The number of alumni employed at each company is recorded

Organizing a Career Fair

  • Multiple Companies are identified through current records.
  • Meeting with identified companies to invite them to attend and sponsor Career Fair at ACK. See example of Career Fair Sponsorship form.
  • Operational requirements (including facilities) are negotiated.
  • Posters for Alumni graduates and current students are reviewed and approved through procedures as outlined in Posting Publications, Collaterals, and Announcements Policy and Procedure (ACK.PLR.ADM.02).
  • Posters are communicated through social media and sent to Alumni and student by email.

Planning Career Day

  • Companies are identified through current records.
  • Meet with identified companies to invite them to attend Career Days at ACK.
  • Operational requirements (including facilities) are negotiated.
  • Information sessions are conducted by one company overviewing the company followed by individual interviews with potential Alumni.
  • Internal and external Collaterals & Announcements for Alumni and current students are reviewed and approved through procedures as outlined in Posting Publications, Collaterals, and Announcements Policy and Procedure (ACK.PLR.ADM.02). Posters are communicated through social media and sent to Alumni and students by email.

Approaching and collaborating with potential recruiters

  • Alumni and Career Placement Center conducts promotional campaign to companies that may wish to potentially recruit ACK Alumni graduates through email, social media, phone and visits. Companies of high standards from relevant Industries are selected that have potential employment opportunities suitable to Alumni existing skills and knowledge.
  • Alumni Graduates details are provided to Potential employers as requested.

Developing a schedule for activities related to recruitment and career development

  • Workshops facilitated by Industry companies are provided to Alumni graduates to enhance skills in CV development; career counseling and advising on developing a career pathway.
  • Companies are identified through current records.
  • Meet with identified companies to schedule activities related to recruitment and career development.
  • Operational requirements are arranged through various departments at ACK including security; facilities; PR and Marketing; and purchasing departments; Heads of various Schools or Departments; and Senior Manager – Office of the Dean.
  • Posters for ACK Alumni and current students are reviewed and approved through procedures as outlined in Posting Publications, Collaterals, and Announcements Policy and Procedure (ACK.PLR.ADN.02).
  • Posters are communicated through social media and sent to Alumni and students by email.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

  • Alumni: A graduate or former student of a specific School, College, or University.
  • Career Fair: Multiple companies showcasing job opportunities conducted on an annual basis.
  • Career Day: One day on campus interviews with a Company.
