|ACK’s “Smoking Awareness Initiative” team conducted a return visit to the International Academy of Kuwait (IAK) to award winners of its “ACK Coloring & Drawing” competition.
The competition was conducted during ACK’s Smoking Awareness Initiative visit in November 2015. During the visit, the ACK Smoking Awareness committee and students from its School of Business visited IAK first grade students and showcased the negative effects of smoking on the human body and the environment.
Towards the end of the visit, the children were invited to take part in a competition to either color in an image of a healthy cartoon character or draw a picture of a healthy person to visualize the benefits of not smoking.
The selection of the winners was completed by ACK’s committee. Sixteen children in total were nominated – 8 for the coloring-in competition and 8 for the drawing competition. The winners were awarded prizes and gifts from the College.
In recognition of “World No Tobacco Day” which happens to be on the 31st of May, ACK’s Advisor to the Chairman - Dr. Usameh Jamali - commented: “Teaching children at a very early stage about the effects of smoking on humans & their environment is everybody’s responsibility.”
