|As a part of its corporate social responsibility, the Occupational Health and Safety Department (OHS) at ACK organized the 4th annual blood drive. Donating blood has always been crucial; however, in the time of COVID-19, donating blood is more essential than ever where people may be less inclined to donate blood; therefore, ACK continued to host its annual Blood Donation Campaign under the theme of “Donate Blood, Donate Life” to help save the lives of others.
It is worth mentioning that ACK is the only educational entity, in both private and public education sectors, that hosted a blood drive during the pandemic.
Following with the new COVID-19 Safety precautions and in order to meet the demand, this year’s blood drive took place in the Central Blood Bank of Kuwait. The objective of this initiative, like every year, was to propagate the significance of blood donation in saving lives, and to generate awareness about receiving and donating blood from different blood types.
“At a time of crisis, when social distancing is the new norm, we need to remind ourselves of the importance of unity and generosity. A small gesture like donating blood can make a big difference to the life of people” said Mrs. Mariam Al-Maraghi, Manager of Health and Safety Department at ACK.
ACK would like to thank its community for their participation. The drive would not have been a success without the collaboration of departments and volunteering students and staff who added value to the drive.
