ACK Launches IEEE Student Branch

ACK held a ceremony to officially announce the establishment of a student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at the College. The ceremony was attended by representatives from IEEE Kuwait Chapter, members of ACK IEEE student branch and ACK faculty members.

Among the attendees representing the IEEE Kuwait Chapter were Dr. Mansour Jaragh - Chairman, Eng. Fadhel Abulhasan - Secretary & Treasurer, Dr. Feda Al-Shahwan - Membership Development Officer and Dr. Ali Al-Fayly - IEEE Young Professionals Chairman.

Established in 1963, IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. IEEE is serving the world through 420,000 members and more than 3000 student branches distributed over 100 countries.

The ceremony began with an opening speech by ACK student Othman Al Matrouk, Chairman of the ACK IEEE Student Branch. Afterwards, ACK student Alaa Bouomar, Vice Chairman, gave a speech introducing IEEE, its goals and offerings. Lastly, the visiting members of the IEEE Kuwait Chapter gave their speeches by thanking the College and congratulating the students for forming a student branch. The speeches also highlighted the benefits of IEEE and what opportunities it provides for students.

The ACK IEEE Student Branch has various offerings that help students and its members by offering opportunities for youth development, empowering students to build critical skills, offering social activities to enhance students’ networking, teaching college and career skills to enrich CVs and holding tailored events that target students’ needs.

Mr. Mohamad Zaki, Electrical Engineering Senior Instructor at ACK and IEEE Student Branch Counselor, praised the commitment and hard work of the student members who put together the ceremony and is looking forward to their future plans with the Branch. Mr. Zaki also added that the Student Branch will be a valuable resource for all ACK students, as its membership is open to all majors, not only engineering.
ACK would like to thank IEEE for providing our students with such a valuable opportunity to help them with their future careers.
