|A group of marketing students at ACK, had an amazing opportunity to practice their know-how as they completed a job-shadowing opportunity at Bloomingdale’s Kuwait, in collaboration with Injaz for the second year in a row.
The opportunity was designed to help marketing students further develop their skillsets and to prepare them for future careers. It did so by giving them firsthand experience with the running stores and with the day-to-day activities associated with retail marketing.
Over the course of the program, ACK students were given the opportunity to exercise visual merchandising in correspondence to a given target market where they practiced all stages of merchandising including budgeting, designing, creating props and displaying merchandise. Students worked in groups and were assessed on how well they met the brief given to them. This involvement enabled a practical approach to retail factors in addition to encouraging teamwork and competition.
The participants reported having a positive experience with the opportunity and that its hands-on approach really gave them a clear-cut understanding of the various responsibilities and expectations for successfully running a retail store. They also added that it highly illustrated the practical side of visual merchandising, and made it easier for them to grasp its concepts.
