|Around 100 students from ACK took part in a recent Huawei ICT Skills Competition which makes around 50% of the participants nationwide. From all participants, 33 were qualified to the national ICT competition of Huawei from all over Kuwait, 16 of which were from ACK. As a final result, out of five top scorers, ACK students and fresh graduates, Eng. Mariam AlQallaf, Afsah Abdullah and Emad Kebeish, won respectively the first, fourth and fifth places in the national competition that was organized in Huawei premises. The 1st place winner, Eng. Mariam AlQallaf, a recent graduate from the Electrical Engineering Department at ACK, is traveling to China to compete internationally with the national winners from universities from all around the world.
The Dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Niby, acknowledged this great achievement by ACK students and graduates and thanked them, their supervisors and all involved members for their dedication and efforts which led to this great success. He also emphasized on the role of the School of Engineering at ACK towards equipping its students with long life learning competencies and skills that are nowadays required for their continuous growth and which will certainly positively serve the beloved Kuwait.
Manager of ACK Alumni and Career Placement Center, Dr. Zeina Nehme, noted that this outstanding result reflects the dedication of our students and fresh graduates to this opportunity. Dr. Nehme added: “This was a great platform for our students and fresh graduates to be a part of such an important learning experience and we thank Huawei for their continuous efforts in developing our youth.”
Speaking on behalf of Huawei Technologies Kuwait Co. WLL, the Public Relations Director Mr. Sky Gaojun stated that: “Turn out for the ICT Skill Competition was a great success and it was an honor to provide this opportunity for local students. As the global digitalization booming and talent development is the key for government strategy, Huawei is working on ICT talent development ecosystem, which includes ICT skill competition, Huawei engineer certificate and Huawei ICT academy. There are more 900 Huawei academies in the world and around 100 certificate exams to provide clear ICT career development paths. We hope we will support more local ICT talents to Kuwait in coming years”. Mr. Sky Gaojun also added that “Collaborating with ACK and its students was a pleasure. Both faculty and students were extremely keen and helpful to the Huawei team. ACK students showed commendable focus and determination, which is what we hoped for in the competition. We are definitely looking forward to future collaborations with the College.”
