Career Days

The center organizes on a monthly basis on campus interviews that helps placing our graduates in the industry. During these Career Days, many alumni have been placed in the industry. Career Days were held with a number of companies, i.e. Huawei, Gulf Bank, National Bank of Kuwait, Al Ahli Bank, Rajhi Bank, Burgan Bank, Weatherford, Al-Zour Operations and Maintenance Company, Jazeera Airways, Schlumberger, Halliburton, BAK, Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, Partake, Ebla Computer Consultation, Kuwait Industries Union, Red Cross among others.

Career Fairs
Career Fair 2019 The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) held its Career Fair 2019 on April 7, and April 8, 2019 on campus, at the Aviation Hangar. The Fair hosted a total of 46 leading companies from the different sectors in Kuwait to provide multiple networking, career, and internship opportunities for its students and alumni. The record-breaking attendance was about 1,432 visitors during the two days.
Resume Clinics Two Resume Clinics offered by Bayt.com and Career Hunters were held on campus one week prior to the event to help students, potential graduates, and alumni with their resumes aiming to prepare them for the Career Fair.

Workshop The Alumni and Career Placement Center organized a Career Development workshop inviting three inspiring and professional ACK staff: Mr. Jaber Al-Mallah from the Human Resources Department, Ms. Rupali Bhagat from School of Business, and Mr. Curtis Sims from Corporate Training, to present and conduct mock interviews. The “How to Stand Out from the Crowd” workshop was held on April 1, 2019, in the Auditorium, followed by a mock interview demonstrating a good interview versus a not-so-good interview conducted by our 3 presenters. The attendees remained engaged throughout the event and heavily interacted with the presenters post it, which highlights the success of such an initiative.

Career Fair – March 19 to 20, 2018 The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) held its 2018 Career Fair on campus at the Aviation Hangar. The Fair hosted a total of 43 leading companies from different sectors in Kuwait to provide multiple networking, career, and internship opportunities for its students and alumni. The record-breaking attendance was about 3,000 visitors during the two days. The guest of honor, Mr. Bandar Al-Rashed, Assistant Secretary General for Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) and on behalf of ACK, Prof. Isam Zabalawi - ACK President, Dr. Usameh Jamali - Advisor to the Chairman, Engineer Sager Abdullah Al-Sharhan – Advisor to the President, - Industry, Dr. Abdullah Karkouh - Vice President of Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Jasem Hajih - Senior Manager of Student Support and Alumni, inaugurated the Fair with the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening remarks welcoming all guests and visitors, thanking the participating companies, and encouraging students and alumni to take this unique opportunity to connect with potential employers. The Opening Ceremony was followed by an official tour of the booths, awarding each participating company with a token of appreciation. This is the largest and the most successful Career Fair that happened in the history of ACK, after three years of not hosting any Fair.

Alumni Entrepreneurs Exhibition
Alumni Entrepreneurs Exhibition 2019 The Center organized ACK’s first Alumni Entrepreneurs Exhibition 2019 on November 17, and November 18, 2019 on Campus, which provided a great opportunity for alumni entrepreneurs to highlight their achievements, showcase their businesses, and serve as role models for students, prospective graduates and future entrepreneurs. The exhibition hosted ten companies from different sectors in Kuwait. The recorded number of attendees was about 221 visitors during the two days. The Exhibition to align with one of the key pillars of the New Kuwait Vision 2035 that urges to achieve a ‘Sustainable and Diversified Economy to reduce the country’s dependence on oil export revenues. To realize this vision, human capital is needed with the skills and mindset to translate innovative ideas into successful business ventures. A major initiative of the center is the annual “ACK Alumni Entrepreneurs Exhibition” which provides our graduates with a platform to promote their businesses, interact with aspiring entrepreneurs, motivate current students, and build their network through innovative means. It also celebrates the successful business stories for some of our ACK alumni and provides a glimpse into their creativity, planning and marketing, as well as advice to current students wishing to take the next step.
Events
Huawei ICT Skill Competition In collaboration with Huawei, the Center hosted the ICT Skill competition offered by Huawei aiming to help ACK current students as well as alumni with IT skills to have a chance at both winning grand prizes and securing a job with the company or its partners. This ongoing collaboration resulted in a Memorandum of Understanding between Huawei and the School of Engineering and allocated ACK as a Huawei Academy. An appreciation ceremony was organized on December 19,2019 to award the 3 ACK winners: Maryam Al-Qallaf (first place from ACK and Kuwait), Afsah Abdullah (second place from ACK) and Emad Kebeish (third place from ACK).
ACK Alumni Educational Trip – Huawei “Seeds for the Future” Program 2017 The Alumni and Career Placement Center placed four alumni out of a total of eight in the free educational trip to China from October 27, 2017 to November 12, 2017, while the center covered the trip on a daily basis using #ACKAlumniChina2017 on Social Media.

Alumni Network Gathering – School of Business – 2018 The Alumni and Career Placement Center at ACK in collaboration with the Business School organized an Alumni Gathering on October 25, 2017 at Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa in Kuwait. A total of 15 alumni attended and five faculty members from the School of Business. The gathering provided a networking opportunity among our alumni. The purpose of the gathering was to gather feedback from our alumni about their experience at work and as well as during their time at ACK
Alumni Network Gathering – School of Engineering – March 29, 2017 The Alumni Engineering Network Gathering was held at ACK Auditorium in collaboration with the Engineering school. Our Chairman Executive and Management Team members and Faculty from the School of Engineering attended to support our Alumni. The purpose of the gathering is to receive valuable input from our Alumni. Approximately 200 alumni attended and provided their feedback, using our survey and through an open discussion. The event was very successful.
Workshops
LinkedIn Workshop – November 21, 2017

The Center hosted a LinkedIn workshop conducted by LinkedIn professionals from Dubai. The event started at 11:00 am with Americana serving brunch for all. The LinkedIn professionals introduced and explained the basics of getting started and creating new professional profiles. The lecture was followed by a successful hands-on workshop where profiles were created or enhanced, honoring the best two profile winners with a prize.

Alumni Internships
Internship opportunities with Alghanim Industries – August 30, 2017

The Manager of the Alumni and Career Placement attended the Alghanim Industries Internship Graduation Ceremony, which was held at the JW Marriott hotel for its summer interns who completed an intensive four-week program in July 2017. The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) received an award in recognition of its continuous support towards the Alghanim Industries summer interns this year.
