Grades

The following information applies to all students who are enrolled from September 2014 onwards in programs offered by School of Engineering, School of Business and School of Aviation including students in the English Language Program.

Grading Rules for English Language Program

The below grading notations are used for students in the English Language Programs for cohorts commencing anytime:

Honors (H) The student has passed the course with an overall grade of 80% or above.
P The student has passed the course with an overall grade of 65% to 79%.
R The student has received an overall grade of 59% or below. The student needs to repeat the course.
PE-S Pass.(Note: no refund of tuition fees)

Grading Rules for School of Engineering and School of Business

The common grades allocated to Engineering and Business Diploma and Bachelor courses are listed below.  A complete list of codes is included in the Grading Policy available on the Student Portal.

Excellent A-     (3.67) 90-94
Very Good B+    (3.33) 87-89
Very Good B      (3.00) 83-86
Very Good B-     (2.67) 80-82
Good C+    (2.33) 77-79
Good C      (2.00) 74-76
Good C-     (1.67) 70-73
Acceptable D+    (1.33) 65-69
Acceptable D      (1.00) 60-64
Fail F       (0.00) 0-59
Fail due to non-attendance FA Issued when the student receives a Fail Grade due to not meeting attendance requirements per the Attendance Policy.
Competent CY A pass grade awarded when student has met assessment requirements for the course/module.  CY results are GPA neutral.
Incomplete I Grade is assigned when work is not completed because of approved documented illness or other emergency. If grade I is not completed within two weeks of the following semester, it is automatically changed to F (Fail).

 

Grading Rules for School of Aviation

The common grades allocated to Aviation Diploma are listed below.

The following grade notations are not calculated in the GPA (GPA neutral):

CT        Credit Transfer.  Credit awarded in the course for previous accredited study.

W        Withdrawn.

WS      Withdrawal due to Suspension after Census Date for violating the Code of Integrity or Student Code of Conduct.

WE      Withdrawal due to Expulsion after Census Date for violating the Code of Integrity or Student Code of Conduct.

Codes not in use effective Fall 2017 semester:

 

Hardship Deferral

 

AW

Issued when the student defers after Census Date for the semester due to personal hardship.  The grade is GPA neutral.
Withdrawn after Drop/Add period WW Withdrawn after Drop/Add period, but before Census Date.
 

Withdrawn after Census Date

WN Withdrawn after Census Date. This is a fail (F) grade.
RW Withdrawn after Census Date (English Language Program only).
Recognition of Prior Learning RPL Credit awarded in the course for previous accredited study.  RPL results are GPA neutral.
