The Information Technology (IT) department is committed to align its services with ACK objectives to provide excellent IT services. IT services at ACK is responsible for the planning, management, and direction of technology initiatives in support of both academic and administrative operations at the college.
The IT department provides the campus community with a diverse set of technology services including development, monitoring, and maintenance of the campus network, telephone system, computer systems and servers, computer labs, smart classrooms, and other online services.
The IT department is committed to developing new services built on cutting-edge technologies, whilst simultaneously ensuring staff and students have secure and dependable services they can rely on.
Learning Management System
The IT department maintains and supports the Moodle Learning System for online and on-campus course management. The system provides students with access to course materials and communication tools 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Course sites are automatically created in Moodle based on course information from our Student Information System and made available on the first day of classes.
User Support Services
Manage and operate the 'IT Service Desk' to provide first line support for application and desktop users. Support is offered online, by telephone, or face to face.
IT Services also provide all students at ACK with access to Microsoft 365 for free which includes Microsoft Teams, OneDrive with 1TB of secure storage, and the Office Pro Plus suite of applications. ACK students can login to Office.com where they can access Microsoft 365 online anywhere at anytime. Students can even download the desktop versions of the Microsoft 365 applications on up to five devices.
Student Information System
The IT department maintains and supports ACK’s Student Information System (SIS) where all student related processes are automated from admissions to graduation.
PCs on Campus
ACK provides PCs all over the campus in labs, classroom, and the library to enhance and foster student education.
ACK IT Classroom Technology support provides assistance with equipment and hardware in classrooms, including troubleshooting, equipment check-out and training.
ACK provides wireless connectivity to all faculty members, students, staff and guests. “MyWifi” is available for both staff and students, while guests can utilize either “ACK Guest Wifi” or “ACK Free WiFi”.
Central File Storage
ACK's Central File Storage service provides high-performance, easily accessible file storage services for groups and individual employees over the cloud.
ACK supports working from home by using an enhanced VPN connection. This service is available for both staff and students.
Security Awareness/Data Protection
ACK enforced guidelines and policies on IT Security, Antivirus, network & web usage, password standards, deployed network security solution to protect the staff, students and college from any internal and external attack. Also conduct a bi-yearly security audit to keep the campus safe.
IT has two service desks located in building 1 basement and building 4 first Floor to support staff and students. Helpdesk working hours are from Sunday to Thursday: 7:30 am until 8:00 pm.
